In the two months we’ve been here in northern Italy, we’ve visited probably several dozen churches and cathedrals. Every one has been different; some soaring and grand, others small and simple. Many contain masterpieces, precious paintings and sculptures that alone make the visit worthwhile; others are masterpieces in themselves, designed by brilliant architects and built with beautiful materials.

It would be fair to say that by now though, Greg has seen enough churches to satisfy him for a while (probably quite a while), but I still can’t resist pushing open those old timber doors to discover the beauty behind them. So when it comes to churches, we’ve now settled on an arrangement that satisfies us both…while I pop in for a ‘quick’ visit, Greg finds a bar and settles down with a coffee. We both know he’s likely to be there for some time.
