Padua – or Padova as it is in Italian – was founded in 1183 BC. So it’s old. Older even than Rome. And like the nation’s capital, a lot of Padua’s rich architectural and cultural heritage survived through the centuries.
In its day, Padua was an intellectual, artistic and economic powerhouse. Today it’s a lively city where mediaeval towers and Renaissance marketplaces meet stylish cafes and trendy boutiques. There’s a lot to like about Padua.

Padua University Viewing Theatre looks magnificent. So different to the our efficient but sterile 3D surgery and remote surgical viewing today. The majesty of the art and architecture must have inspired learning. So beautiful.

Oh I am so envious! Padua was the for our (Covid abandoned) trip to Italy. I loved your point about the emotion in the frescos. I looked carefully at the one depicting the Visitation. There was a touching warmth in my response to the painting.
Loving your photos.
Thank you!!!

Thanks, Madeleine. The Giotto frescos really are so beautiful. Keep them on the list for when you and Mark reschedule that trip. ❤️
